Blasting on SR 260 east of Payson continues to end of February

45-minute road closure at 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday

The Arizona Department of Transportation will continue blasting operations on a two-mile segment of State Route 260, approximately 20 miles east of Payson, through the end of February. The highway will be closed at 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday for 45 minutes. Eastbound traffic will be stopped near milepost 269 and westbound traffic will be stopped near milepost 271.

ADOT is improving a four-mile segment of the highway west of the Christopher Creek campground from a two-lane road to a four-lane divided highway.

Drivers should allow additional time to reach their destinations. Once the highway is reopened, motorists will continue traveling in an active construction zone. Speed limits are reduced to 45 mph and a width restriction of 10 feet remains in place.  Message boards, temporary barricades, and signage will guide motorists through the project area. ADOT appreciates the traveling public's patience while the $29 million project is under construction.

The project is scheduled for completion this fall.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
