Interstate 17 lane and ramp closures scheduled at Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads in north Phoenix through Friday, Feb. 14

PLUS: Get ready for increased construction at I-17 and Happy Valley Road

Construction activity continues in north Phoenix in conjunction with the Interstate 17 interchange reconstruction project at Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are in place:

  • The southbound I-17 Pinnacle Peak Road on-ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, Feb. 9, and continuing through the morning of Friday, Feb. 14. Drivers can use Deer Valley Road instead.
  • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane at Pinnacle Peak Road nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, Feb. 9, through the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 11.
  • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes at Pinnacle Peak Road nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, Feb. 9, through the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 12.
  • The northbound I-17 Pinnacle Peak Road exit will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, Feb. 10, through the morning of Friday, Feb. 14. The northbound I-17 frontage road will remain open. Drivers can exit at Deer Valley Road and use eastbound Deer Valley Road to northbound 19th Avenue to Pinnacle Peak Road.
  • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one or two lanes between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Feb. 11, through the morning of Friday, Feb. 14.
  • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one or two lanes between Happy Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Wednesday, Feb. 12, through the morning of Friday, Feb. 14.

ALSO: Expect increased construction activity at I-17 and Happy Valley Road beginning this month and continuing through fall 2020. The first full closures are currently scheduled for Feb. 21-Feb. 23, when ADOT demolishes the old Happy Valley Road bridge over I-17.
