PHOENIX – Westbound Interstate 10 and the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway will be busier than usual Thursday afternoon, Oct. 31, with fans heading to the Arizona Cardinals’ game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
Those traveling to the West Valley should allow extra travel time Thursday, and not just because kickoff between the Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers is scheduled for 5:20 p.m. The afternoon of Halloween usually has earlier freeway congestion as parents head home for trick-or-treating.
Those holding tickets to the Cardinals game should consider starting their trips to the stadium early if possible. Parking lots will open at 1 p.m. Drivers who are not going to the game should consider avoiding the busiest stadium travel routes.
Fans driving from north Scottsdale or other East Valley locations should consider taking Loop 101 westbound and southbound across the north Valley and Glendale areas rather than using routes that would put them on westbound I-10.
Freeway message boards will carry updates on current and anticipated traffic conditions as well as information about which exits are to be used for parking passes.
Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov or by calling 511. ADOT also provides highway condition updates via its Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.
