Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) Improvement Project – Interstate 17 to Pima Road: Roadway closures for Sept. 6 - 12

Expect heavy traffic, delays during weekend closure

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers on the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the following closures are scheduled to be in place:

Weekend Closure

 Pima Freeway, Scottsdale Road to 56th Street

  • The westbound Pima Freeway will be closed between Scottsdale Road and 56th Street from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9. The westbound on-ramps at Hayden Road, Scottsdale Road and 64th Street also will be closed.

    • DETOURS: Exit northbound Pima Freeway at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and travel westbound on Bell Road to reconnect to the Pima Freeway at Tatum Boulevard. 
         
      OR
    • Exit westbound Pima Freeway at Scottsdale Road and use either Pinnacle Peak Road (to the north) or Bell Road (to the south) to reconnect to the Pima Freeway at Tatum Boulevard.

Other Closures 

Seventh Street ramps at the Pima Freeway

  • The westbound Pima Freeway on-ramp and the eastbound off-ramp at Seventh Street will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, through March 2020 for reconstruction of the Seventh Street ramps.
    • DETOUR: Drivers can use the westbound freeway frontage road (Beardsley Road) to Seventh Avenue to access the freeway. Drivers can use the eastbound off-ramp at Seventh Avenue and continue driving east on the frontage road (Beardsley Road) to reach Seventh Street.
