Allow extra travel time Thursday if heading to Cardinals’ game

Plan for heavier I-10 traffic ahead of Thursday’s 5 p.m. kickoff in Glendale

Westbound Interstate 10 or Loop 101 will be busy freeways on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 15), due to heavier traffic prior to the Arizona Cardinals’ preseason game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.

Kickoff between the Cardinals and Oakland Raiders is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday. Fans and commuters who are heading to the West Valley should allow extra travel time.

Ticketholders should consider starting their trips to the stadium early if possible. Parking lots will open at 1 p.m. Drivers who are not going to the game should consider avoiding the busiest stadium travel routes if possible.

Fans driving from north Scottsdale or other East Valley locations should consider taking Loop 101 westbound and southbound across the north Valley and Glendale areas, rather than using routes that would put them on westbound I-10.

Freeway message boards will carry updates on current and anticipated traffic conditions as well as information about which exits are to be used for parking passes.

Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov or by calling 511. ADOT also provides highway condition updates via its Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.
