Weekend and upcoming closures for Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) Improvement Project – Interstate 17 to Pima Road: August 2 – 8

Allow extra travel time in work zones

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers on the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the following closures are scheduled to be in place:

Weekend Closures

 Pima Freeway, 56th Street to State Route 51

• The westbound Pima Freeway will be closed between 56th Street and SR 51 from       10 p.m. Friday, August 2, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5.
• The westbound on-ramp at 64th Street also will be closed. 
• Detour: Travel north on 56th Street to Deer Valley Road and then proceed west on Deer Valley Road to Cave Creek Road. Travel south on Cave Creek Road to reconnect to the westbound Pima Freeway. 

19th Avenue at the Pima Freeway

• North- and southbound 19th Avenue will be closed at the Pima Freeway from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, to 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 5.

Pima Freeway, Seventh Avenue to Interstate 17

• The westbound Pima Freeway will be narrowed to two lanes between Seventh Avenue and  I-17 from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug 3.

15th Avenue at the Pima Freeway

• The 15th Avenue bridge over the Pima Freeway is closed to north- and southbound traffic through late 2020 for reconstruction and other improvements.

Other Closures

SR 51 at the Pima Freeway

• The northbound SR 51 connecting ramps to the westbound Pima Freeway will be closed, and the northbound SR 51 will be narrowed to two lanes nightly from Union Hills Drive to the Pima Freeway from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, Aug. 5, through the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 7.
• The northbound SR 51 HOV ramp to the eastbound Pima Freeway also will be closed.

19th Avenue at the Pima Freeway

• North- and southbound 19th Avenue will be closed at the Pima Freeway nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 5, through the morning of Friday, Aug. 9.

 Pima Freeway Frontage Road at 15^th Avenue

• The westbound Pima Freeway frontage road between 15th and Seventh avenues will be permanently reduced to one lane beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, August 5.

 Upcoming Closures

 Pima Freeway, Seventh Avenue to Seventh Street

• The east- and westbound Pima Freeway will be narrowed to two lanes between Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.

Seventh Street at the Pima Freeway

• North- and southbound Seventh Street will be closed at the Pima Freeway during the following dates and times:
• Weekend closure from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.
• Nightly closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, to the morning of Friday, Aug. 16.
• Daily closures from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, to Friday, Aug. 16.
