Travel Alert: Expect delays on Interstate 40 west of Meteor Crater, Winslow

Drivers who use Interstate 40 west of Winslow and the popular Meteor Crater natural landmark should expect delays at Meteor City (milepost 239) through Wednesday, August 14, for a bridge-improvement project.

While crews remove and replace the existing bridges, both directions of I-40 traffic will be re-routed up and over the Meteor City ramps alongside I-40. The restriction is in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for very slow traffic and allow extra travel time.
