Drivers who use the roundabouts at Interstate 17 and Happy Valley Road in north Phoenix should plan for brief overnight closures and possible delays while crews refresh the lane lines. Work is scheduled to occur between 10 p.m. Sunday, June 9, and 5 a.m. Monday, June 10.
Brief, intermittent closures will be necessary while temporary lane striping is underway. Law enforcement officers will stop and direct traffic. To avoid possible delays, drivers can use Jomax or Pinnacle Peak roads to access or cross over I-17.
The temporary striping will help to delineate lane lines inside the roundabouts while drivers continue using them for the next several months. Both roundabouts will eventually be removed and replaced with a diverging diamond traffic interchange. The work is occurring in conjunction with the I-17 Traffic Interchange Reconstruction Project at Happy Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads. Learn more on the project webpage.
