Loop 101 Improvement Project – Interstate 17 to Pima Road: Scheduled road closures, restrictions for week of May 27

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are scheduled to be in place during the week of May 27:

Cave Creek Road at Loop 101

  • The right-turn lane will be closed on the westbound Loop 101 Cave Creek Road off-ramp nightly from       9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, through Friday, May 31.
  • Eastbound Mohawk Lane will be periodically restricted east of Cave Creek Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31, and again on Monday, June 3, and Tuesday, June 4.

Seventh Street at Loop 101

  • Seventh Street is scheduled to be closed in both directions between the Loop 101 westbound and eastbound frontage roads from 9 p.m. Thursday, May 30, to 5 a.m. Friday, May 31, and nightly from        10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, May 31, through the morning of Monday, June 3.

Scheduled Upcoming Closures

  • Seventh Street is scheduled to be closed in both directions between the westbound and eastbound Loop 101 frontage roads from 9 p.m. Thursday, June 6, to 5 a.m. Friday, June 7, and nightly from 10 p.m. to      5 a.m. Friday, June 7, through the morning of Monday, June 10.
  • 56th Street is scheduled to be closed in both directions between the westbound and eastbound Loop 101 frontage roads nightly during two consecutive weekends from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, June 7, through the morning of Monday, June 10, and from Friday, June 14, through the morning of Monday, June 17.
  • NOTE: Freeway ramps and frontage roads will remain open during all three of the above closures at Seventh and 56th streets, but north-south travel will be restricted at the signalized interchanges.

Beginning May 31 and continuing through the summer, closures are planned to occur each weekend on a segment of Loop 101 between I-17 and Pima Road as work continues on the widening project. Drivers should plan ahead and visit the project web page for upcoming weekend travel restrictions before using the freeway for weekend travel.
