Plan for overnight paving work at the State Route 90/Buffalo Soldier Trail intersection July 23-25

Overnight detour set for the State Route 90 Bypass and Hatfield Street

The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to pave the intersection of State Route 90 and Buffalo Soldier Trail during overnight hours from Monday, July 23, to Wednesday, July 25.

Work is scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning. Drivers should expect delays during these hours.

While paving work is underway, the following traffic restrictions will be in place:

  • Traffic will only be allowed to travel north-south through the intersection. The intersection will be reduced to a single lane, and flaggers and pilot vehicle drivers will guide traffic through the work zone one direction at a time.
  • All through-traffic on SR 90 will detour to Buffalo Soldier Trail and Fry Boulevard.
  • The SR 90 Bypass will close from the SR 90/Buffalo Soldier Trail intersection to Seventh Street.  Local traffic may use Seventh Street to Fry Boulevard to access the detour.
  • Access to Fort Huachuca via the Van Deman Gate on Hatfield Street will also be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., and traffic will detour to the Buffalo Soldier Gate, located at the Fry Boulevard/Buffalo Soldier Trail intersection. Visitor access badges will be available for issue at the Buffalo Soldier Gate visitor center during these hours.
