Grand Avenue (US 60) paving west of 163rd Avenue starts July 11

ADOT’s weekday work will extend to the CAP canal crossing

Pavement-improvement work along Grand Avenue (US 60) west of 163rd Avenue in the Surprise area is scheduled from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays between July 11 and July 27, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Lane closures and turn-area restrictions will be in place while crews resurface the highway and turning areas between 163rd Avenue and the Central Arizona Project canal crossing west of Patton Road. No weekend work is scheduled.

Drivers who plan to use Grand Avenue within the project’s work zone should allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely while the following restrictions are in place:

  • Grand Avenue narrowed to one lane in both directions in areas between Jomax Road and Patton Road from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, and Thursday, July 12, for resurfacing of the turning areas at Jomax Road, 191st and 193rd avenues or Patton Road. DETOUR: Signs will direct drivers to nearby detour routes when turning areas are closed for resurfacing.
  • Eastbound Grand Avenue narrowed to one lane in areas between Patton and Jomax roads from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, July 13, for resurfacing of right-turn lanes along the highway. DETOUR: Signs will direct drivers to detour routes, including Deer Valley Road and 203rd Avenue, when other access points are closed for resurfacing.
  • Grand Avenue narrowed to one lane in both directions on weekdays in areas between 163rd Avenue and Patton Road from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, July 16, through Friday, July 27, for resurfacing.
