The Arizona Department of Transportation has scheduled an
open house public hearing at Goodyear Ballpark in the West Valley on Wednesday,
June 27, to gather comments about the findings of the draft environmental study
for the planned Loop 303 freeway extending south between Van Buren Street and
the proposed State Route 30.
The draft study has identified a preferred alternative
for an alignment of Loop 303 south of Van Buren Street, formally known as
Alternative 2C South. ADOT’s study team will continue to evaluate the preferred
alternative as well as a “no build” option for Loop 303.
The Loop 303 public hearing is scheduled as follows:
When: 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27
Where: Goodyear Ballpark, 1933 S. Ballpark Way,
Goodyear
Who: ADOT project team members will be on hand
to provide information about the
Loop 303 study’s findings, including the selection of the
preferred alternative.
What: Attendees will be able to view an informational
video and interactive animation as well as provide brief comments to a
study panel. ADOT also will provide comment forms for attendees to fill
out.
With ADOT’s completion of the south half of the Loop
303/Interstate 10 traffic interchange in 2017, Loop 303 currently travels south
of I-10 to Van Buren Street in Goodyear.
If the preferred alternative receives formal approval,
construction of a Loop 303 project between Van Buren Street and Elwood Street,
south of Lower Buckeye Road, is scheduled to begin in 2020 as part of the
Maricopa Association of Governments’ Regional Transportation Plan approved by
county voters in 2004.
The Loop 303 Draft Environmental Assessment and Initial
Design Concept Report are available online at azdot.gov/Loop303SouthOfVanBuren.
Comments about the Loop 303 study also can be mailed by
July 15, 2018 to ADOT Community Relations, ATTN: Loop 303 Study, 1655 W.
Jackson Street, MD 126F, Phoenix AZ 85007, or emailed to Loop303south@azdot.gov.
