Drivers
on Interstate 8 east of Yuma should expect delays and might need to choose a
new exit over the course of the next week as Arizona Department of
Transportation crews continue a project to build a concrete barrier wall over
the Dome Valley interchange east of Yuma.
On
Thursday, Jan. 12, the Dome Valley westbound exit ramp (milepost 21) will close
from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow ADOT to pave the ramps. Also:
- Westbound
on and off ramps will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
- Eastbound
on and off ramps will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
When
that work is complete, crews will begin repaving I-8 between Dome Valley and
Wellton (miles 20-29). Drivers can expect a one-lane restriction in the area
and a reduced speed limit during the work, which is expected to be complete in
early April.
The
speed limit in work zones will be reduced to 45 mph for the safety of workers
and drivers. Loads will be limited to 12 feet in width.
Alternate
exits for drivers include the Wellton exit (mile 29) east of the work zone and
Avenue 11E (mile 12) to the west.
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with
caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway
