Driving SR 77 near Winkelman next week? Find out where paving work will cause delays

Motorists traveling on State Route 77 near Winkelman will encounter travel delays Tuesday, Oct. 18, and Wednesday, Oct. 19, while the Arizona Department of Transportation paves a section of the highway.

Paving work will be done from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. both days, and a pilot vehicle will escort traffic in both directions through a six-mile closure from the junction with State Route 177 to milepost 145 near Christmas Mine Road. Motorists should plan for delays of up to 15 minutes.

The work is part of a $2.6 million project to improve the section of highway north of Winkelman.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511, except while driving.
