Geotechnical work at Pinto Creek Bridge will bring delays on US 60
Helicopter will operate in the area to relocate drill rigs, bringing 15 minute closures
Motorists traveling on US 60 in Gila County may encounter delays at the Pinto Creek Bridge on Thursday, Sept. 22 and Monday, Sept. 26 while the Arizona Department of Transportation conducts geotechnical investigations at the bridge.
The work requires assistance from a helicopter to move drill rigs requiring intermittent closures of the highway for safety purposes. Closures of approximately 15 minutes will occur on those dates between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The highway will be open to traffic between closures.
The work is in advance of a project to replace the Pinto Creek Bridge, located on US 60 between Miami and Top of the World at approximately milepost 238.
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors.
