Planned Traffic Restrictions along Pecos Road

The first phase of construction on the future Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway will begin on Monday, Sept. 19 with widening improvements at the Interstate 10/Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) interchange.

The Arizona Department of Transportation will widen the shoulders and extend the existing Loop 202 high occupancy lanes (HOV) lanes from Pecos Road near 48th Street to the I-10/Loop 202 interchange.  Crews will start work Monday night by placing temporary concrete barrier through the work zone prior to the Tuesday morning’s rush traffic.

Intermittent lane restrictions also will be required next week along Pecos Road and adjacent arterial streets. 

Monday, Sept. 19 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·          Westbound Pecos Road narrowed to one lane between 32nd and 24th streets.

Monday, Sept. 19 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20

·          Eastbound Loop 202 narrowed to one lane between 48th Street and just east of the I-10 / Loop 202 interchange.

Tuesday, Sept. 20 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·          Westbound Pecos Road narrowed to one lane between 32nd and 24th streets.

·          Eastbound Pecos Road narrowed to one lane at 32nd Street.

·          40th Street narrowed to one lane in both directions north of Cottonwood.

Wednesday, Sept. 14 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·          Westbound Pecos Road narrowed to one lane between 40th and 24th streets.

Thursday, Sept. 15 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·          Westbound Pecos Road restricted to one lane between 32nd and 24th streets.

Friday, Sept. 16 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

·          Westbound Pecos Road narrowed to one lane between 24th Street and Chandler Boulevard.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors.
