FAQs From Neighbors Like You!
Why do new traffic signals flash red before going live?
New signals are installed to improve traffic flow and enhance safety throughout Buckeye. When you see flashing red lights, it means the signal is in its final testing phase with APS and our traffic engineers. This ensures everything is functioning properly before full activation. More signals are on the way at high-traffic intersections identified through community input and traffic studies.

I want to add a covered backyard patio. Do I need a permit? What are the steps?
Yes, a permit is required for most construction projects within Buckeye city limits, including covered patios. Permits help ensure buildings and structures are safe and meet city codes. This also applies to fences, pools, spas, solar installations, re-roofs and more.
If you're unsure whether your project needs a permit, contact the Permit Center at permitcenter@buckeyeaz.gov or call 623-349-6200.
Visit our Permit Center References page for applications, forms and residential permit checklists to get started.
