Secretary of State Mark Martin
Promotes Arkansas Trade in Taiwan
Advocates for Stronger Arkansas-Taiwan Business Relationship
(LITTLE ROCK, ARK.) –
Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan External Trade Development
Council are co-hosting the 7th annual US Business Day in Taipei, and have
invited Secretary of State Mark Martin to represent Arkansas at the
event. He will first travel to Houston on Friday for a
meeting with the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office, and then on to Taiwan
for the event.
The United States is Taiwan's 2nd
largest trading partner, and they are America's 11th largest. US Business Day was created to support and grow bilateral
business cooperation between both partners. Arkansas companies exported
over $68 million dollars worth of commodities to Taiwan last year.
Secretary Martin will make
a presentation on Arkansas trade opportunities to
an assembled group of Taiwanese business leaders as a keynote
speaker. He will also have meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
the Taiwan-US Industrial Cooperation Promotion Office, the Bureau of
Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs and with
business leadership of potential
trade and investment partners for Arkansas.
Secretary Martin has twice
received delegations from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in
Houston, led by Director General Peter Chen, seeking to strengthen the
trade relationship between Arkansas and Taiwan. In the course of
these visits, Secretary Martin was asked to lead the Arkansas delegation
to U.S. Business Day.
