Regarding the 2026 City of Fort Smith municipal elections, the filing period for candidates seeking the offices of Mayor and Director-at-Large Positions 5, 6, and 7 closed today at 12:00 noon. Each office carries a four-year term, beginning January 1, 2027 and ending December 31, 2030.
The following candidate filings were received by the City Clerk's Office during the filing period, which ran from 12:00 noon on July 29, 2026 through 12:00 noon on August 5, 2026:

All petitions for candidacy submitted by the individuals listed above have been verified. Accordingly, the candidates for Mayor and Director-at-Large Positions 5 and 6 will appear on the ballot for the November 3, 2026 general election.
With regard to Director-at-Large Position 7, incumbent Neal Martin is declared elected without opposition and no necessity for inclusion on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot.
