City of Fort Smith to Honor NBA Star Jaylin Williams with Street Naming Ceremony
The City of Fort Smith will honor Fort Smith native and Oklahoma City Thunder player Jaylin Williams with a street naming ceremony on Thursday, July 9, at 6:00 p.m.
The ceremony will recognize Williams’ achievements on and off the court, as well as the pride he continues to bring to Fort Smith as one of the city’s most accomplished athletes. City officials, community leaders, family members, and fans are expected to attend the event.
Earlier this year, the Fort Smith Board of Directors approved naming a portion of North 23rd Street adjacent to Northside High School as “Jaylin Williams Court.” The designation serves as a lasting tribute to Williams’ journey from Fort Smith to the professional basketball stage and his continued commitment to his hometown.
Williams, a graduate of Northside High School and a former University of Arkansas standout, was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2022 NBA Draft. Since entering the league, he has become a fan favorite known for his versatility, leadership, and dedication to community service.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
