Proposed Sewer Rate Increases
Fort Smith, AR – The City of Fort Smith invites all residents to a public hearing regarding proposed sewer rate increases. The Board of Directors will conduct the hearing during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 4 at 6:00 PM at The Blue Lion, 101 N 2nd St, Fort Smith, AR 72901.
This hearing will allow community members to learn about the details of the proposed rate adjustments, ask questions, and provide feedback directly to City officials and the City of Fort Smith Water Utilities Department.
The proposed increase is 3.5% annually beginning June 1, 2025, with the remaining increases becoming effective on January 1 for years 2026 - 2030. The sewer rate increases are necessary to help cover the cost of Consent Decree projects and continued operations of the Water Utilities Department, including normal operations and maintenance, as well as debt service coverage
