Fort Smith Transit: Looking Ahead to 2025
As we approach 2025, Fort Smith Transit is focused on enhancing our services to better accommodate the needs of our growing city. Our team has been working diligently to develop proposals for Fixed Route modifications, adjusted service hours, and the addition of a new bus to our Demand/Para-Transit service.
We invite our citizens and service users to review these proposed changes, which we aim to implement by the end of the first quarter of 2025. Your feedback is essential, and we welcome all input to help us refine our plans. While there is much we wish we could achieve, these proposals are designed to be both cost-effective and impactful, creating positive changes for our community.
Proposed Changes for 2025:
- Run the Jenny Lind Route on Saturdays.
-
Dissolve the Rogers Supercenter Route and introduce a dedicated Phoenix Route.
-
Restructure the Downtown Route to include 6th Street, parts of River Front Dr., Morrison, and Wheeler Ave. The Downtown Route will operate at the same time as all Fixed Route buses.
-
Restructure the Jenny Lind Route to cover all of Jenny Lind and a portion of Hwy. 271.
-
Restructure the Grand Route to provide coverage for more of North O Street.
-
Restructure the Midland Route to include the new Electric Park area, with 6th Street covered by the Downtown Route.
-
Restructure the Towson Route to encompass all of Towson, as well as portions of Hwy. 71 and 45.
-
Create a new Phoenix Route to serve Wheeler Ave. and Phoenix Ave.
-
Maintain the Rogers Express Route with no changes.
-
Add an additional bus to support our Demand/Para-Transit service.
