Fort Smith Celebrates Local Water Utilities Achievements
 Fort Smith, AR – The City of Fort Smith is proud to announce a series of prestigious awards and recognitions in the fields of water and wastewater management. Director of Water Utilities, Lance McAvoy, has been named Wastewater Manager of the Year by the Arkansas Water Environment Association, a testament to his dedication and leadership in the field.
In addition to this honor, Lance has been recognized for his contributions to the Arkansas Drinking Water Advisory and Operator Licensing Committee, where he has served since 2018. His role as Committee Chair for 2024 further demonstrates his commitment to enhancing water quality and safety standards across the state.
Furthermore, Fort Smith has also been awarded the title of “Best Tasting Drinking Water" in Arkansas by the Arkansas Water Works & Water Environment Association (AWW&WEA). This recognition qualifies the city to compete at the Southwest American Water Works Association in Oklahoma this October for a chance to go to the national competition. This award showcases the City of Fort Smith's commitment to providing exceptional drinking water to its residents
