City of Fort Smith Launches Major Renovation Project for Creekmore Park Pool
Fort Smith, AR – The City of Fort Smith is excited to announce a significant renovation project for the Creekmore Park Pool. The 75-year-old bathhouse and diving well are set for demolition and reconstruction, introducing a modern bathhouse and a covered diving well. This initiative aims to provide a premier municipal swimming facility, establishing Fort Smith as a leading venue for outdoor swim meets.
The project also includes a year-round diving well to support high school competitions and training for local groups, including Fort Smith Public Schools, Fort Smith Fire Department, and the Army National Guard.
Final construction specifications for this pivotal project were prepared by Crafton Tull of Fayetteville and Beshears Construction, Inc. of Fort Smith has been selected to serve as the Construction Manager for the project, ensuring cost efficiency through strategic planning and competitive bidding processes.
With a Guaranteed Maximum Price of $5,997,639.78, the project demonstrates a $700,000 saving below the anticipated construction budget, highlighting the city's commitment to value and quality.
In alignment with the Comprehensive Plan, this renovation is dedicated to improving public facilities and the community's health and recreational access. Importantly, while the renovation progresses, the pool will be open to the public this summer on a modified schedule. Details of this schedule will be announced in May.
