 Roosters are no longer permitted within the City of Fort Smith – this amendment occurred in August 2023.
Additionally, if you would like to have fowl within the city limits please remember the following:
Fowl is defined as ducks and/or female chickens only
They must be a breed that cannot fly or must be wing-clipped
Maximum of twenty (20) fowl allowed on lots 21,780 square feet to five (5) acres
Must be kept in a fenced rear yard
If coops, roosts, or a water feature are utilized they must be kept in a sanitary condition and they shall not be located closer than 25’ to an adjacent residential structure
