TILLES PARK IMPROVEMENTS UPDATE
Based on community feedback, additional improvements are in the works for Tilles Park (3700 Grand Avenue).
Project Information: The initial project called for the construction of an asphalt walking trail, drainage improvements, removal and construction of one basketball court, and improvements to the disc golf tees. However, based on citizen feedback and recommendations by City leaders, the Board of Directors approved a change order for the project during their February 20, 2024 Regular Meeting. This change order modified the project to include the conversion of two of the dilapidated tennis courts to basketball courts, new goals and fencing, and installation of spectator bleachers.
Current Progress: Construction crews have completed the removal of the crusher dust walking trail and are finishing preparing the new path for the asphalt overlay. New disc golf tee pads have been poured. The City purchased new disc golf baskets and the Western Arkansas Flying Disc Association completed the installation. The contractor is in the process of preparing two of the tennis courts for a concrete overlay and conversion to two basketball courts. This project is scheduled for completion in early June.
Additional Improvements: The removal and replacement of the decades-old playground equipment is currently in the preliminary design phase. In keeping with the Parks Department's and City's commitment to advancing inclusivity throughout our parks system, an inclusive playground will be installed, featuring amenities that are both accessible and usable by citizens of all ages and abilities.
