Honoring Justice of the Peace Gregory Woodell

1) Justice of the Peace Gregory Woodell (1945 - 2025) passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025. The Benton County Quorum Court honored JP Woodell (District 9) at Thursday night's Quorum Court meeting. The Quorum Court declared March 27th, 2025 as Gregory Woodell Day in Benton County. His passing is a profound loss to the entire county community. We wish his family and friends prayer and healing at this time.

2) The Quorum Court passed a resolution to declare a vacancy for JP District 9. Governor Sarah Sanders will appoint a replacement Justice of the Peace following Honorable Woodell's passing. 

3) A resolution was passed in support of Senate Bill 394. The bill, if passed by the State General Assembly, would allow the County to refer the county 1% general sales tax allocation back to the voters. This would not increase taxes. The county would work with the county's mayors on a new reallocation of the 1% sales tax funds. Benton County voters could then vote on whether to approve or deny the new reallocation.

Emergency Preparedness Kit

Build your emergency preparedness kit. Whether you're preparing for a winter storm or a severe storm, an emergency kit can help you in a time of need. Your kit should include supplies for three days. This would include the basics of water, food, flashlight, and a first aid kit. Other items that are often overlooked are games for kids, shoes, pet leashes, manual can opener, and backup battery chargers. Download FEMA's emergency supply kit checklist to prepare your household.

What is a Burn Ban? 

Benton County is currently under a burn ban. The Benton County Fire Marshal declares a Burn Ban when weather conditions increase the risk of a fire outbreak. A 24 Hour Burn Ban can be extended every day until conditions improve. When prolonged periods of drought occur, the Fire Marshal can recommend a Court Ordered Burn Ban. The County Judge would sign a court order to place a burn ban indefinitely. During both a 24 Hour Burn Ban and a Court Ordered Burn Ban, no outdoor, open burning is permitted throughout the entire county.

A section of Walton Blvd near Interstate 49 has been dedicated in honor of BCSO Detective Paul Newell. He passed away following a motorcycle crash in December 2022. Detective Newell served BCSO for 24 years with an unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe. Thank you Detective Newell for your service. You will never be forgotten.

Siloam Springs Cleanup

March 31 - April 25 - each city trash route assigned a specific week
Residents may dispose of bulky household items such as chairs, couches, entertainment centers, artificial Christmas trees, etc during their assigned disposal week. Please review the list of acceptable and unacceptable items before placing items by the curb. 

Benton County Blood Drive

8:00am - 4:30pm, Thursday, April 3, 2025 - Benton County Office Buildings
Benton County and the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will host a mobile blood drive at the Benton County Administration and Benton County Rogers Office buildings. Sign up today to save a life!

Highfill Tree Giveaway Event

11:00am - 2:00pm, Friday, April 3, 2025 - Highfill Community Building, Highfill, AR 
The City of Highfill will give away free trees to residents. Please have a copy of your utility bill ready to present. Only residents will receive trees. 

Cherishing Children's Rallies

11:30am- 12:30pm, Tuesday, April 1 and Friday, April 4
April is Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. The Children & Family Advocacy Center will host two rallies. The first will be held at Gentry Park. The second will be held at Orchards Park in Bentonville.

Decatur Spring Cleanup

8:00am - 12:00pm, Saturday, April 12, 2025 - Decatur City Hall
Decatur city residents can bring their items to dispose of to dumpsters off Maple Avenue south of City Hall. Please review the list of acceptable and unacceptable items before arriving to the event. 

Lowell Easter Egg Hunt

2pm, Saturday, April 19, 2025 - Ward Nail Park Lowell, AR
The City of Lowell will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt with more than 12,000 eggs hidden in Ward Nail Park. There is an area set aside for children with disabilities. A sensory friendly area is also available.  

Bella Vista Citywide Garage Sale

April 25 & 26, 2025 - Bella Vista, AR
Register your address today to sell items in the Bella Vista Citywide Garage Sale. Hundreds of Bella Vista residents will set up shop to sell during the last weekend in April.

Benton County Tree Giveaway

9am - 1pm, April 26, 2025 - Benton County Road Department Yard
Residents of unincorporated Benton County can reserve one free tree. Pickup will be held at the Benton County Road Department Yard.
