 Welcome to our newsletter
December marks the beginning of summer, and the festive season is already in full swing across the Barrington Coast. We extend our best wishes to our locals, operators, and visitors for a safe and enjoyable summer and school holiday period. As a premier destination for outdoor adventures, family fun and a calendar full of unique events, our region offers something special for everyone this season.
On 6 December 2025, we are excited to host the inaugural Barrington Coast Beach 5s at Main Beach Forster. This dynamic five-a-side tackle-based (modified) sport will be a thrilling championship competition with teams registered across Mens, Womens, and Junior categories (Boys, Girls, and Mixed). The event promises an action-packed day on the sand and is expected to attract hundreds of participants and spectators from across the Barrington Coast, Newcastle, and Port Macquarie.
We are pleased to announce two new appointments in key roles as our team evolves. As we farewell Lauren, we are excited to introduce our new Tourism Industry Development Officer Madeline Hale. Madeline will be actively engaging with the region in the coming months and is available now for all tourism industry enquiries. Additionally, Rachael McFadden has been formally appointed as Senior Destination Experience Officer and will continue as the primary contact for all visitor servicing enquiries, following her successful tenure in the acting role. Our Destination Experience team is here for you all summer. Visit us at our mobile pop-up locations or drop into one of our Visitor Centres for expert advice and local insights. More. Discover more by exploring the Barrington Coast Directory and What’s On guide—help us spread the word so everyone can experience the incredible diversity of businesses and events across our region this season. More.
We hope you enjoy the festive season and we look forward to seeing you out and about helping visitors make unforgettable memories here in the Barrington Coast.

Enjoy Barrington Coast responsibly this holiday seasonÂ
As the holiday season approaches, Barrington Coast is ready to welcome visitors to its stunning beaches, charming towns, and breathtaking hinterland. But with popularity comes responsibility — and we’re asking everyone to play their part in protecting this special region.
MidCoast Council rangers will be out in force during the busy Christmas and New Year period, working alongside NSW Police and National Parks and Wildlife Service to ensure safe and sustainable holiday experiences. Their focus will include:
- Illegal parking and traffic congestion
- Driving on beaches without a permit
- Illegal overnight camping
- Rubbish dumping
Discover the Road Less Travelled: If the coast feels crowded, why not explore the Barrington Coast hinterland? Cool forest walks, waterfalls, and chic cafés await in the mountains — perfect for escaping the holiday rush. 👉 Find inspiration here.
Plan Ahead for a Stress-Free Stay: Popular destinations like Seal Rocks, Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens, Crowdy Head and Harrington often reach capacity early. Visitors are encouraged to book accommodation well in advance.
