The McAshan Drive widening project, which began in February 2025, is progressing well and is expected to be completed by Fall 2025. This project expands McAshan Drive from Bay Drive to Old Tuscaloosa Highway, enhancing traffic flow and safety.
Additionally, the interchange improvements at Exit 104 on I-20/59 involve the construction of a diverging diamond interchange. Done in partnership with ALDOT this innovative design will include an additional lane across the interstate and is projected to take up to two years to complete. The diverging diamond configuration is designed to improve traffic efficiency and reduce congestion.
These projects are being carried out in partnership with ALDOT and are part of broader efforts to support the area's growth and development.

The Jefferson County Commission approved a contract last week with CB&A Construction (public bid $751,563) to perform the corrective drainage work needed for the Meadow Lake subdivision. The County took on maintenance of the failed subdivision last year and is in ongoing litigation with the developer. Since taking it on the County has paved it, and workers have been on call to help with pumping when the subdivision floods. The work to remedy the drainage issues should start at the beginning of May. In order to do this work the County had to first obtain right of way access.
Note: The County now requires all subdivisions to complete infrastructure development, which is then inspected, prior to any homes being built.
The World Police and Fire Games are coming to Jefferson County, and tickets are free! Check out this podcast on what kind of events will be happening and how to volunteer!
