October 18, 2024 Update

Road Closures Coming Up

There are three road closures coming up that will affect different areas of the county. Two are requests from CSX so they can do repair work on the railroad crossings. The other is on the new Bell Hill Road. We outline them here:

10/21/24 - for 3 weeks. The New Bell Hill Road will temporarily close to allow for the remaining sanitary sewer and retaining wall construction. There will be a new traffic configuration from the Y-intersection at New Bell Hill Road and the existing Bell Hill Road, including the Holiday Inn and UAB MedWest accesses. Thru traffic will be temporarily closed for those traveling Letson Farms Parkway to New Bell Hill Road for the duration of the detour as well.

10/21/24 - 4 days. CSX railroad requested the closure of Snowville Brent Rd for repair work on a railroad crossing. This closure date has changed more than once at the railroads request. We apologize for any confusion.

10/28/24 - 4 days. CSX railroad is requesting the closure of Shannon Oxmoor Rd for railroad repair work. Please see the map for the specific point of closure and the detour.

More Roadside Litter Collected!

The Jefferson County Commission has approved $500,000 for a contract with Sweeping Corp of America to pickup roadside litter in all districts of Jefferson County. Below is a look at what was collected this past week!
