The Jefferson County Commission approved this week support for a new multifaceted Coca-Cola facility in the Kingston community that will revitalize the former Stockham Valves and Fittings site. The project represents an $330-million investment and is expected to create up to 50 new jobs. The new facility will include a 150,000-square-foot multi-floor office complex and a 300,000-square-foot warehouse featuring a leading-edge Vertique case picking system that is the most advanced in the beverage industry.

The Commission also passed a resolution this week extending it's time to secure funding for the proposed Farm Center at the Hallmark Farm property in northern Jefferson County. The extension was necessary because the state bill creating the Agriculture Exhibition Center Corporation Board did not pass until the final days of the spring legislative session.

During Commission meeting on Thursday, Commissioner Knight presented a congratulatory proclamation on behalf of the entire Commission to the Trussville High School Girls Softball Team for their exceptional win in the AHSAA 7A Championship -- congrats on a job well done!

Many of the graduating seniors this year have been awarded over $1.3 million in band/music, athletic, and academic scholarships to continue their education.
