Amwaste has informed us that they are transitioning most of their trash collection to Wednesdays (starting March 25th), with around 1200 customers staying on Thursday. If your pickup date is changing you should have received a card in the mail. If you are "missed" in this transition, please use the MyJeffCo app to report an issue.
It is that time of year again! County appraisers are out doing their annual review of property per the Code of Alabama, Title 40, 1975. Please know they are in county-marked vehicles and will have county ID. They will not come on your property. Reasons they may be passing by your property include:
- Review due to recent sale or purchase
- Review changes reported on a building permit
- Review records for accuracy
- Review inventory/new construction

Spring is in full effect and its time to clean out your garage and dispose of all those nasty old pesticides and paint cans. The next Hazardous Waste Drop Off Day will be April 13 at three locations:
- First Baptist Church Gardendale - South Location
- Classic Car Motoring in Irondale
- City of Bessemer Public Works Laydown Yard

Jefferson County General Services wished Sergeant Jasmine Y. Hale a fond farewell and thanked her for her service. She is being deployed with the U.S. Army for a year. Sgt. Hale enlisted in the Army in 2008 and serves in the Alabama Army National Guard. To date, she has held one Military Occupation Speciality: 42A Human Resources Specialist, and has been activated three times. Sgt. Hale has earned 5 Army Achievement Medals, 3 Army Commendation Medals, and a host of other recognitions during her 15 years of service. She is being deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve with her team and will be responsible for at least 500 soldiers across four countries. In her civilian job, Sgt. Hale has worked in the General Services Accounting Unit since 2017, and will be missed!
