Jefferson County will hold two Town Hall meetings to answer questions on the recent sewer bond debt refinance. Representatives from the County will be on hand to answer questions and explain what it means to citizens and the future of the sewer system.
Dates are:
- Tuesday, Feb. 13 - 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Bessemer Civic Center
- Thursday, Feb. 15 - 5:30- 7:30 p.m. at Boutwell Auditorium
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that Jefferson County has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended Sept. 20, 2022. Judging is conducted by an impartial panel, which decided the County met the high standards of the program including demonstrating full disclosure and clearly communicating its financial story. The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. It is also the first time the County has ever achieved this award.
Construction Alert: From Feb. 1 - Feb. 10 there will be excavation work to install a new sanitary sewer line at the intersection of McAdory School Rd and Eastern Valley Rd. While not a lane closure, it will disrupt traffic. We appreciate your patience with this improvement work.
Temporary Road Closure: In continuation with the Bell Hill Rd project, Dickey Springs Rd will be temporarily closed on Friday, Feb. 16, and Monday, Feb. 19, between Bell Hill and Pocahontas Rd. Those who use this road may want to seek alternate routes. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
