September 29, 2023 Update

Ribbon Cutting on Grants Mill Rd Project

Jefferson County Commissioners Joe Knight and Mike Bolin cut the ribbon with Irondale Mayor James D Stewart this week on the Grants Mill Road and I-459 access improvement project. They all expressed appreciation to the community for its patience during the project, which has been completed on schedule. Cost of the project is $15.2 million and included widening the road to I-459 and installing a roundabout at Old Leeds Rd and Grants Mill to improve connectivity without having stop signs or a signal.

If not, you are missing Dr. Frederick Hamilton, Jefferson County Director of Community Services, explaining the process of applying for Community Development Block Grants. You can sign up to attend one of the following meetings to learn more and also listen to the podcast by clicking on the button below.

Open Season meetings:

October 10, 2023, 6:00 p.m.
November 2, 2023, 6:00 p.m.
December 5, 2023, 10:00 a.m.

Second Hazardous Waste Day On Oct 21

Due to overwhelming demand the County has added a second hazardous waste day on Oct. 21. The locations will be at Camp Bessemer and Camp Ketona. See the flyer and follow the link for details.
