Tag Renewal Notices Will Look Different In July

Starting in July your car tag renewal notices will look a little different:

1. It will be in the form of a letter -- not a postcard,

2. It will include a return envelope for ease of payment,

3. If you have multiple vehicles under your name, they will all be listed in one letter (not multiple postcards),

Next month the Revenue Office hopes to start including boat tags a well. Please note, that the formula for calculating the cost of your tag comes from the State and so does the $2.00 mailing fee. Those are state statues that the Commission does not have control over.

What You Need to Know About The Property Value Protest Period

Property valuation notices have been mailed for this year. We sat down with Maria Knight, Chair of the Board of Equalization, to explain the process, and we talked with one of her appraisers as well. They outline the process that they have to follow from the state in arriving at these values, and give helpful tips on what you need to bring to the protest hearing.

Change In Date And Location For Public Meeting

The County will hold three public meetings to get input on a new Comprehensive County Plan. We will send more information in the coming weeks but mark your calendars to attend one in your area. Each meeting will be from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 31 at Clay-Chalkville High school Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Gardendale Civic Center Thursday, Aug. 3 at McAdory Middle School. We will be publishing special interactive webpages for citizens to provide input as well.
