Commissioner Ammons Submits Resignation, Takes CEO Position at Birmingham Business Alliance

District 5 Commissioner Steve Ammons has submitted his resignation effective May 31, 2023, to become the new CEO of the Birmingham Business Alliance. You can read the announcement on its website here. Per Alabama state law, the Jefferson County Election Commission will set a date for a special election to fill his vacated seat. We will share more when that date is set. We wish the Commissioner nothing but the best in his new role.

Electronics Drop Off Day May 13 & June 10

Jefferson County has two more opportunities for you to get rid of old electronics, paper, and other items.

May 13 - at the Center Point Satellite Courthouse, 2651 Center Point Parkway from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

June 10 - at the Valley Creek Water Reclamation Facility, 3923 Clear Water Drive 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

You can bring cable boxes, modems, routers, cell phones, computers, laptops (hard drives are shredded), cords, cables, printers, scanners, rechargeable batteries, security equipment, small appliances, TV's and monitors, plus regular paper (no binder clips please).

Congratulations Ms Senior Jefferson County!

Congratulations to Ms. Senior Jefferson County 2023 Ms. Barbara High. The Senior Services division holds this pageant each year and it is a preliminary competition to the Ms Senior Alabama and Ms Senior World competitions. It is for ladies who have reached the "age of elegance" of being 60 years and older. For more information on upcoming events for seniors follow our Facebook events page.
