There is a new tax exemption for Jefferson County residents that are over 65. It essentially freezes your property value for the year. You have until the end of April to claim it for this year. If you miss it, no worries, you can claim it next year. There is a lot of confusion between the 2 exemptions so we did a podcast with the Tax Assessor. You can listen to it here. To claim the exemption, fill out the form on the Tax Assessors webpage and email it back to: Contact_Tax_Assessor@jccal.org
