New Pump Track, Skills Park, and 10 Miles of New Bike Trails

We recently cut the ribbon on new bike trails (Fish Whistle, Rodeo Clown and Roman Road), a skills park and our newly renovated pump track!

Bring your basket, and get ready to have fun!

This year's Easter Egg Hunt will be located off Terrace Drive in the Multi-use Field by the Discover Shelby Pavilion. We will be celebrating and having a "hopping" good time from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 21st!

Look forward to food trucks, a makers' market, presentations from park naturalists, egg hunts (for children age 0-10), an Easter Bunny meet & greet, and so much more. There will be something for everyone!

Great Backyard Bird Count:

Sunday, February 15 at 10 AM

Oak Mountain Interpretive Center and Alabama Wildlife Center

Join us for the Great Backyard Bird Count, a global citizen science event where every bird you see helps scientists better understand and protect our feathered friends! Whether you're a first-time birder or a seasoned pro, this is the perfect opportunity to get outside, sharpen your bird ID skills, and contribute to real conservation research.

We'll start with a brief introduction to common local species and tips on using binoculars and bird ID apps. Then, we'll head over to the Alabama Wildlife Center Observation Room to record our observations and submit them to the E-bird database. Your sightings make a difference - each count helps track migration patterns, population changes, and habitat needs.

This is just one example of the various educational and fun programs and events offered by the Oak Mountain State Park Interpretive Center and the Alabama Wildlife Center.
