June is Great Outdoors Month – which began in 1998 as Great Outdoors Week – has grown over the years into a month-long celebration of America’s public lands and waters at the national, state and local levels with thousands of events across the country. Get Outdoors Day is Saturday, June 12th and is an annual event that encourages healthy, active outdoor fun by introducing kids and first-time participants to outdoor recreation opportunities close to home.

Over the past 80 years, trails have been a fundamental part of the park system’s mission. Because of this, we created the Dirt Pass Trail Crew Program. This program is a way to voluntarily donate $35 per year to help support our efforts to improve our trail system. Your money goes directly to the maintenance, enhancement and planning of the Alabama State Parks trails system. All Dirt Pass membership donations are made online and each donating Dirt Pass member will receive a cool, Trail Crew t-shirt to show your pride in our program.
We hope you enjoy the upcoming 4th of July Holiday. The Alabama State Parks remain committed to providing each and every guest with a safe and enjoyable stay. Thank you to our employees for your dedication to our guests, and thank you to our guests for choosing to spend your time at an Alabama State Park.
