Alabama State Parks E-Newsletter - June 2020 Issue

Lots of cool stuff happening at Joe Wheeler State Park. The new "Awesome Trail" has opened and a new section of the campground has re-opened. Book and campsite and hit the new trail. Make your reservations by calling 256-247-1184 or online at alapark.com.

Over the past 80 years, trails have been a fundamental part of the park system’s mission. Because of this, we created the Dirt Pass Trail Crew Program. This program is a way to voluntarily donate $35 per year to help support our efforts to improve our trail system. Your money goes directly to the maintenance, enhancement and planning of the Alabama State Parks trails system. All Dirt Pass membership donations are made online and each donating Dirt Pass member will receive a cool, Trail Crew t-shirt to show your pride in our program.

Don't forget to purchase a new Alabama State Parks car tag in 2020. Last names that begin with the letters M and I renew during the month of June. Last names with the letter P and L renew in July. For all you boat owners, we also have a boat tag and the same rules apply. This is a new form of much needed revenue for us. Watch the video.

Looking for something fun to do with Dad for Father's Day? Visit the #AlabamaStateParks to enjoy all kinds of activities and amenities that Dad will enjoy. From hiking and biking to golfing and zip lining, we have something for just about everyone. Our restaurants serve up great Sunday menus, like the special at Joe Wheeler State Park.

It's Summertime! Are you looking for something to do that has a little adventure? Check out the zip line courses at select Alabama State Parks and the water cable skiing and the Aquapark at Oak Mountain State Park. Both of these concessions have implemented advanced cleaning procedures for our guests.

The #AlabamaStateParks provide hundreds of miles of trails that are great for planning outdoor excursions while obeying social distancing etiquette. Biking is a great way to decompress during the pandemic, but remember to maintain a 6-foot distance from others when on the trails. Doing so can help avoid the spread of COVID-19. Pardon our progress.......we like to give our patrons updates on park renovations. The Pier renovation at Gulf State Park is coming along very nicely. The crew is working hard to make it top notch for all of our locals and visitors. These updates will provide a better experience on your future visits.
