Kayak Colorfest

Pontoon Boat Rides

Pontoon Boat Rides at DeSoto Falls

During Mentone's Colorfest, festival-goers can enjoy the brilliant colors of the changing riverbanks with a scenic boat ride on Little River. The boat will leave from DeSoto Falls about every 45 minutes and travel up river before returning. Boat rides will be going on throughout the festival. Dates: October 18th, 19th, 20th. Hours: 18th: 1:00 to dusk. 19th: 10:00 to dusk. 20th: 11:00 to 4:00. Where: DeSoto. Fee: $15.00 per person. Tickets are sold at DeSoto Falls by MAPA, no reservations needed. Private rides outside of festival available by reservation


Colorfest 2019

Savor North Alabama's autumn beauty and enjoy arts and crafts, food, live music and more! On Saturday and Sunday, Brow Park will be filled with artists and craft makers offering their handmade creations. Admission is free. Dates: Saturday, October 19-20th, 2019. Hours: 9-5 Saturday, 9-4 Sunday. Where: Mentone, Alabama (within 10 miles of DeSoto State Park).

Basketry Demo

Basketry & Chair Caning Demonstration

DeSoto State Park Naturalist Brittney Hughes will demonstrate and have examples of coiling, twining and plaiting using materials like Longleaf Pine needles, natural threads, reed, and White Oak splints. She will also demo chair caning with reed, weaving the herringbone pattern on a Civilian Conservation Corps-built chair. Date: Saturday, October 19, 2019. Time: 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Where: Country Store & Information Center. Fee: Free, come by anytime. For any information, call 256.997.5025 or email Brittney.Hughes@dcnr.alabama.gov


Yoga on the Mountain: Daybreak Class

Interested in starting your day in a positive way? Enjoy a yoga class in a beautiful place! These yoga classes are alignment based which makes the class perfect for those beginning their yoga practice or for those wanting to try something new. Date: Sunday, October 20th. Time: 8:00-9:00 am. Where: DeSoto Falls Picnic area. Fee: 5.00 per participant per class. Bring mat/towel & water.

Trail Trekker Hike

Trail Trekker Hike Series: Blue & Orange Trails

DeSoto State Park challenges you to become a DeSoto State Park Trail Trekker! This hike series is designed for those that prefer some company out on the trails with experienced park staff or volunteers. Blue & Orange Trails-Hike is approximately 3 miles round trip, moderate along mountainous terrain. Date: October 20, 2019. Time: 10:00 am-12:00 noon. Where: Meet at DeSoto’s Country Store & Information Center. Fee: Free and open to everyone, no pre-registration required.
