The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is pleased to announce that Eagle Cottages at Gulf State Park is the newest member of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World Program. Eagle Cottages becomes the 7th in the U.S. with only 55 lodges in the program worldwide. Make your plans to reserve one of these cottages for your next vacation.

Who enjoys adrenaline fun? The Screaming Eagle Zip lines at the Alabama State Parks and the water cable skiing course at Oak Mountain State Park are great places to enjoy park adventure. These new additions provide another level of family-fun that makes planning your excursions a little bit easier. Check them out!

We are excited to announce that we will be developing a new trail system at Joe Wheeler State Park. This new trail system will provide almost 8 miles of all terrain hiking and mountain biking. This will be a great addition and this is a perfect time for you to become a member of the Dirt Pass Trail Crew. Your membership can go straight to projects just like this so you can see what your money really does.

Don't forget to purchase a new Alabama State Parks car tag in 2019. Last names that begin with the letters L and P renew during the month of July. Last names with the letters J, K and R renew in August. For all you boat owners, we also have a boat tag and the same rules apply. This is a new form of much needed revenue for us.

Pardon our progress......The #AlabamaStateParks are improving the products that are offered to our guests. From the new lobby and lodge rooms at Joe Wheeler State Park to new air conditioning systems at Lake Guntersville State Park, we are working toward providing our guests with a better experience.

We develop a variety of park events that provide enjoyment for just about everyone. Check out these events coming up:

Check out General Joe's Car Show at Joe Wheeler State Park. This year, the car show will be held in conjunction with our Rockin' The River Music Festival. Fund raisers like this are important and help us improve our parks. Make your plans to attend this fun-filled weekend.

The smaller #AlabamaStateParks are hidden gems that provide great public access. Make your reservations for the camper cabins at Blue Springs State Park and enjoy a weekend of cool water swimming. The camper cabins at Frank Jackson State Park are perfect for fishing excursions.

Looking for something fun to do to beat the heat?? The cave tours at Cathedral Caverns and Rickwood Caverns State Parks stay cool year-round. If you have not seen both of these caves we highly recommend you check them out. They are truly a treasure. Check out this video of Cathedral Caverns. Thanks for your support!
