Rehabilitated Bald Eagle Released at Cheaha Veteran's Day, 2018 Around 250 visitors gathered on the deck of Vista Cliffside Restaurant to watch the release of a juvenile bald eagle that had been rescued in Calhoun County (at the base of Cheaha) and rehabilitated by the Southeastern Raptor Center in Auburn. "We've seen this eagle several times since its release. Cheaha State Park is a Gateway between the Appalachian Highland Birding Trail and the Piedmont Plateau Birding Trail. We encourage birders of all levels to bring their binoculars and explore our trails and overlooks," says Park Superintendent Renee Raney who is an avid birder. For a Cheaha State Park birding checklist contact the Park Naturalist. (Photo by Bill Wilson)

Vista Cliffside: New and Improved Dining Experience atop Alabama's Highest Mountain Recent review by Paul Brown: "For years I have enjoyed some pretty mediocre meals at the Cheaha restaurant and justified the experience with a hearty appetite and spectacular views after a day’s hiking. This month I had a truly delicious meal! Our sever was incredibly pleasant and attentive. I would like to commend (Cheaha State Park) for whatever changes may attributed to my really positive dining experience. This park is a treasure for our state and I am delighted that the restaurant is top notch as well." Vista Cliffside Restaurant has earned many five star reviews in the past six months. Please plan to dine with us, try the new cuisine, and let us know about your experience.
