Employee Spotlight -
Help us welcome Renee Raney as she has recently been hired as Park Superintendent at Cheaha State Park. Renee has a tremendous amount of knowledge of the outdoors and of Cheaha State Park in particular. Her passion and experience has allowed her to earn numerous accolades that will serve her well in her new role. Congrats Renee!

One of our biggest attributes is that fact that the State of Alabama has the richest biodiversity east of the Mississippi River. From the marshes of the Bay to the mountains of the Appalachians the #AlabamaStateParks are home to an amazing variety of flora and fauna. Check out this recent article that spotlights this.

If you are interested in helping support the Alabama State Parks trail system consider donating to the Dirt Pass Trail Crew Program. Your $35 online donation will go specifically to the improvement of our trails. Each donating Dirt Pass member will receive a cool, new Trail Crew t-shirt to show your pride in our program. Check out this cool video.

Don't forget to purchase a new Alabama State Parks car tag in 2018. Last names that begin with the letters J, K and R renew during the month of August. Last names names that begin with Q, S and T renew in September. This is a new form of much needed revenue for us. Yet another great reason why the Amendment 2 victory was so important to us. Now, this money stays where it belongs-at the parks. Watch the video.

Available now, all boat owners are able to purchase a State Park boat registration. Follow the same procedures for past registration, just simply ask for the #AlabamaStateParks decal. Like the car tag, this is a new form of much needed revenue for us.

Make your plans for General Joe’s Classic-Custom-Street Rod-Muscle Car Show to be held this Saturday at Joe Wheeler State Park. Funds generated from this event help us create a better park experience for our guests. Live entertainment will be provided. $20 registration fee.

Did you know there are between 15,000 and 20,000 species of butterflies? Join us September 8th at Lakepoint State Park for our "Butterflies of Alabama" nature event.This event will feature presentations and a guided walk with a butterfly expert. Book a room and stay the whole weekend at the Park.

The Annual Bigfoot BioBash is a family friendly Conservation Festival and Trail Run at Cheaha State Park on September 8th. The festival features exhibits that highlight conservation through education and recreation. Enjoy hands-on activities like archery, geocaching, and more! Make your plans!

Are you looking for your next adventure? Biking is a great way to visit the #AlabamaStateParks. From asphalt corridors for road bikers, to earth and wooden structures for mountain bikers, we have the bike locations for you.
