Life's A Beach: Grand Reopening of the CCC Lake House May 19, 2018 - 11:00am to 3:00pm CDT Visitors can begin this adventure at the top or the bottom of the mountain! Join the Park Naturalist for a Leave No Trace Hike from the top of the mountain to the lake (begins at 8:30 am) OR join the fun at the lake beginning with a ribbon cutting at 11:00 am. The Lake House (c.1937) historically was a bath house but now serves as a park store and museum. Programs and activities include: games, live animal programs, cultural heritage talks, grilled hotdog lunches, hammocking, and more! Weather dependent.
Cheaha Challenge and Gran Fondo Century & ULTRA May 20, 2018 This ride upholds the tradition of excellence established 25 years ago. The 1992 ride organizers' vision, to create a challenging route over the highest point in Alabama - Mount Cheaha - and then back again, continues to fulfill the event's tagline promise to be "the toughest ride in the South." Waterfalls Self-guided Hikes There are two seasonal waterfalls inside the state park boundary: CCC Reservoir Falls and Laurel Falls. There are three waterfalls located just a short distance from the park in the Talladega National Forest.Stop by Cheaha Country Store for a map of trails and falls.
