December 2017 Alabama State Parks E-Newsletter

The month of December came in fast and furious for the #AlabamaStateParks. The recent snowstorm created a Winter Wonderland in our Parks. We were excited to see so many snowy photos shared on social media. Our favorite is the above photo of Cheaha State Park taken by our own Park Superintendent, Justin Howard.
The Holiday season is special to us as we appreciate our family, friends and supporters. We invite you to visit our Parks all through the year.

Don't forget to purchase a new Alabama State Parks car tag in 2018. Last names that begin with the letters A and D renew during the month of January. This will be a new form of much needed revenue for us. Yet another great reason why the Amendment 2 victory was so important to us. Now, this money stays where it belongs-at the parks. Looking for something fun to do with the kids during Christmas break? Check out Santa's Underground Workshop at Rickwood Caverns State Park? This festival of LED lights has been met with great photos and rave reviews by the media and park visitors. If you are looking for a cool place to take the family during the Christmas holidays then you don"t want to miss it.

The #AlabamaStateParks is seeking nominations for this year’s Eagle Award winners. The Eagle Award is given, in five categories, to people and organizations who have made outstanding contributions in support of the parks. To nominate someone in one – or all – of the five categories, visit www.alapark.com/eagle-awards. Deadline for nominations is January 5, 2018.

We are excited about the 33rd annual Eagle Awareness Weekends at Lake Guntersville State Park. We have a schedule packed with bird presentations, socials and eagle watching. Make your plans and book your rooms for weekends in January and February.
