Small Game and Spring Turkey Season

Deer season is over, but there are still plenty of small game hunting opportunities and the upcoming spring turkey season, which opens March 15 for most Alabama counties.

New for 2017, hunters are required to report their turkey harvest via Game Check.

Rabbit and Squirrel seasons close March 5.

State Parks Car Tag Now Available

When it's time to renew your car tag consider supporting statewide conservation efforts. New for 2017 is the Alabama State Parks tag. Contact your local probate office for more information.

How to Help Alabama's Wildlife

Past donations to the Nongame Wildlife Program helped bring back bald eagles, ospreys and bluebirds to Alabama, but many other nongame wildlife species still need help. If you enjoy watching wildlife, here is your chance to lend it a helping hand. Make a donation to the Alabama Nongame Wildlife Fund on your state income tax form.

Perdido River Canoe Trail Opens

The Alabama State Lands Division has launched its new canoe trails website, www.alabamacanoetrails.com. The site features information and maps needed to plan an adventure on the Bartram Canoe Trail or the newly opened Perdido River Canoe Trail.

State Public Fishing Lakes Now Open

Because these smaller lakes warm more quickly than larger bodies of water, early spring fishing can be excellent. Anglers may fish from the pier, bank, or boat.

Gulf Fishing Benefits from Entertainment Complex Construction

Craig Newton with the Alabama Marine Resources Division said there are several benefits of having artificial reefs in the Gulf. One of the best reasons for constructing these reefs is the increase in fishery production and diversity of fishes and other wildlife that migrate through Alabama's waters.

Alabama Crayfish Poster Now Available

ADCNR has recently produced a poster that highlights 30 of the state’s 97 species of crayfish. The poster is available to the public for free at any Fisheries Section district office. For contact information, click here.
