Mandatory reporting of all deer and turkey harvests through Alabama’s Game Check system goes into effect this fall. Hunters will have 48 hours to report their harvest through a mobile app, online or by phone. Long-term harvest data will be used to guide the state’s deer and turkey management programs. More
Hunting and Fishing Licenses Expire Annually August 31
The 2016-17 recreational hunting and fishing licenses will go on sale Monday, August 22, 2016. You can purchase your new license by visiting any local license agent including probate offices, license commissioners and many bait and tackle stores. Purchasing your license online is available 24 hours a day and is the easiest way to obtain your license.

2016 USA Archery Outdoor Nationals Held in Decatur
Recently, ADCNR partnered with the City of Decatur to host the 2016 USA Archery Outdoor Nationals, which consists of three events: the U.S. National Target Championships, the U.S. Open, and the Easton JOAD Nationals. ADCNR staff and a NASP volunteer introduced several new shooters to archery via the “Try Archery” range. This was the largest USA Archery Outdoor Nationals in their 132 year history. WFF Assistant Director Fred R. Harders receives State Personnel Award
Mr. Harders received the 2016 Employee of the Year Honorable Mention Award from State Personnel. He began as a biologist at the Eastaboga Fish Hatchery moving up several different supervisory positions during his 40 years of service. He has served as the Assistant Director for the last 16 years. East Elementary Archery Team Become World Champions
After an almost perfect year, the East Elementary Archery Team from Cullman, Ala., have taken top honors in the 2016 National Archery in the Schools (NASP) IBO 3-D World Championship. East took first place in their local, regional and state NASP tournaments and placed sixth in nationals before becoming NASP 3-D World Champions last month in Myrtle Beach, SC.
