Wanted: Avid Turkey Hunters  

The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division is encouraging turkey hunters who hunt for at least 10 days during turkey season to participate in the Avid Turkey Hunter Survey. Participants are automatically entered in a NWTF shotgun giveaway.

This spring brings a return to normal operational hours for Rickwood Caverns State Park and certain facilities at DeSoto and Cheaha state parks. The Buck’s Pocket State Park campground remains closed for now, but the rest of the park will continue to operate as a day-use area. These seasonal changes remain in effect through fall 2016. More

Donations Help Support Alabama’s Wildlife

The Alabama Nongame Wildlife Fund check-off box on the state income tax form provides citizens a way to donate all or a portion of their state tax refunds for the benefit of nongame wildlife. Learn how you can help.

License Violations Akin to Stealing

The bust was supposed to involve hunting deer over bait and hunting at night. During the investigation, Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries’ enforcement personnel discovered another significant violation that could occur anywhere in the state. Of the nine people checked during the investigation in Montgomery County, only one had a valid hunting license.

Exceptional Anglers at Oak Mountain

Gone Fishin', Not Just Wishin' will take place at Oak Mountain State Park May 11-13. During the event students with special needs from the Shelby and Jefferson county school systems will be given the opportunity to fish. Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities available. NASP State Championship April 7

The tournament will feature archers in grades 4-12 from schools across the state who earned a berth to the state championship after competing in a regional qualifying tournament. The event will be held at the Montgomery Multiplex in Montgomery, Alabama. The shooting begins at 9 a.m. Click here to watch a video.
