The Division of Business Partnerships works with business and industry to build a trained and prepared workforce, supporting Alaska hire, and promoting economic development through sustainable, leveraged investments in job creation, job training, and career awareness and preparedness. Primary drivers in realizing this mission are the programs the Division funds through its grants programs.

The Division funds a broad range of activities benefiting Alaska residents and employers, with both state- and federally-funded grants tailored to:

  • provide training in Alaska’s high-demand industries
  • serve low income youth, youth needing employability skills, workers who have been laid off, adults needing additional skills to obtain or retain a job, and veterans
  • provide services to private employers, non-profit and for-profit training organizations, public school districts, public postsecondary educational institutions, and government agencies (depending on the grant program)

In fiscal year 2015, the Division awarded more than $7.3 million in competitive grants to over 50 organizations. While available funding varies from year to year, the Division will continue to offer grant-funded opportunities to serve Alaskans today for a better Alaska tomorrow.
